With 8K on the horizon for film production, Sony saw the opportunity to rebuild their iconic “ping” logo in a cleaner, higher resolution package.  Affirm Films, their domestic market imprint for smaller budget films saw the first taste of this higher resolution future.

We needed to maintain the dynamic picture of the original and deliver for the myriad of modern and legacy formats for distribution throughout the world.  It had to be perfect and they were so pleased with it that they are re-distributing the beginning as the official “Sony Pictures Features ID” for the forseeable future.
