Calm before the Storm
Director Brad Peyton, Warner Brothers’ go to man for Summer blockbusters asked Peter and Thomas of Plastique to build an ominous message to viewers. The hell that was to break loose needed a calm bookend to the film which still stressed a “something’s not quite right” feel.
Screenings of the film portrayed a classic film in the works. Warner Brothers’ logo, always an opportunity for creative foreshadowing, is in unfamiliar territory. When the film ends, our main on end titles make it clear that we are underwater. The floating necklace a clear symbol of what was lost.
